Description:
Selected readings in international fiction and non-fiction by women writers from the Renaissance to the 21st Century. The focus will be on such themes as the female hero, evolving and culturally determined concepts of the "feminine," women as explorers, rulers, intellectuals, in public as well as private domains. Students write two papers (5 to 8 pp. each). Class discussion is expected and encouraged.
