Description:
This course will focus on trends in American poetry by paying close attention to the works of individual poets as well as “schools” they might represent, beginning with Poe and concluding with Hughes. Close readings, class discussions, group work will be supplemented with critical/theoretical essays. Students will maintain online journals and wiki postings in response to the poems and will produce a formal research paper.
