Course details
Name: ENWR - 204
Title: ADVANCED EXPOSITORY WRITING
Section: 01
Semester: Fall - 2011
Credits: 3
Description:
What is writing? What is exposition? What is argument? Persuasion? What is non-fiction? What is the evidentiary model (a thesis supported by evidence), and why is it so commonly specified as a model for learning to write? Why do we define writing in these terms? What cultural, economic and political epistemologies lurk behind these ways of (mis)understanding writing? Is this part of our difficulty in learning to write better? Could our development as writers be accelerated by examination and reconsideration of these deep, structural (mis)understandings of written language and its social functions?
