Description:
This course surveys American Drama from the 1920s to the present and pays particular attention to the way in which approaches to drama in America have evolved over the course of the 20th century into the 21st century. Requirements include a midterm, a final and a critical essay. Readings may include works by Eugene O’Neill, Lillian Hellman, Tennessee Williams, Arthur Miller, Edward Albee, David Mamet, Sam Shepard, August Wilson, Marsha Norman, Tony Kushner, Suzan Lori Parks and other contemporary dramatists.
