Description:
In this course, we will take a rhetorical approach to workplace writing. While covering some of the major genres of business writing—memo, letter, summary, and email, among others—we will discuss the rhetorical constraints of these documents, focusing especially on audience. Considering technology’s notable role in the workplace, we will also consider the affordances and challenges that different technologies present. Additional topics such as business ethics, stakeholder theory, and intercultural communication will also inform our work in this course.
