ENWR 318: Intermediate Drama Writing Workshop

Playwrighting: From Page to Stage
Intermediate writing of one-act and/or full-length plays with class analyses, conferences, and staged readings. 3 hours lecture.
Prerequisites: ENWR 215; Departmental approval.

This intensive playwrighting course focuses on play development. Directing and acting techniques are also considered, offering a holistic perspective on the collaborative nature of drama and its implications on dramatic writing. Play production, particularly for the American Stage, will also be examined as a practical element of the course. Each session will feature discussions on aspects of theatre with topics like stage design and technical elements, each to be incorporated into the working scripts. The class will culminate with an evening of staged readings of participants finished plays. Workshop intensive. New or previous scripts for further development acceptable.
