This semester the course will focus on works selected as the best contemporary novels by a panel of writers and critics in the NY Times Book Review (May 21, 2006) --helpful to read the article. Novels by Morrison, Roth, DeLillo, Updike, etc. Beloved, Blood Merdian, Libra, Underworld, Portnoy's Complaint, Human Stain, Rabbit Run, Rabbit Redux and perhaps one or two more.
