Title: WRITING IN THE MAJOR-RHETORIC OF SPORT
Section: 11
Semester: Summer - 2012
Credits: 3
Description:
This course will engage English majors in critical reading and writing skills essential to success in the discipline. Drawing on the field of rhetorical studies, we will focus on sport--the ways in which physical competition, the body, its injuries and its triumphs, and athletic ability--has been cast rhetorically in popular language and in our creative consciousness. Students will learn and apply theories of rhetorical analysis in order to build sophisticated arguments that explore the relationship between language and bodily experience.
