Course details
Name: ENGL - 280
Title: SURVEY IN RHETORICAL THEORY
Section: 01
Semester: Spring - 2014
Credits: 3
Description:
In this course we will become familiar with rhetorical strategies that writers have used from ancient times through the present to advocate for change, earn the right to speak, and challenge oppression, among other rhetorical purposes. We will not study rhetorical history merely for history’s sake, but rather will seek to apply the strategies we learn from these texts to our own writing and speaking. In particular, we will cover the following areas of inquiry: women’s rhetorics, community-based literacies, public sphere theory, ethnography, digital rhetorics, and disability studies.
