Description:
In this course, students will read nineteenth and twentieth-century short stories that explore the boundaries of race and gender and the strategies writers and characters use to critique them. Readings will include short stories by Henry James, Charlotte Gilman Perkins, Alice Munro, William Faulkner, and Jamaica Kincaid. In addition to completing all assigned readings students will complete short writing assignments and essays.
