Course details
Name: ENGL - 274
Title: LITERATURE OF IMMIGRATION
Section: 01
Semester: Fall - 2014
Credits: 3
Description:
In this course, we will address narratives of immigration to the U.S. in recent fiction, non-fiction writing, and film. We will consider how these texts imagine the American dream and classic “immigrant narrative” as well as how they challenge these mainstream ideas by focusing on issues such as empire and globalization. Texts we consider may represent Latina/o, Caribbean, Arab, and Asian American communities.
This will be a hybrid course, meaning that we will meet in person on W and online (asynchronous, which means that you do not need to be online during the scheduled class time) on M.
