Title: COLLABORATION AND COAUTHORING

Section: 01

Semester: Fall - 2014

Credits: 3

Description:
Prerequisites: ENWR 106 or HONP 101. This course will familiarize students with written collaboration and coauthoring, which are essential to the work of professional writers across fields. The course will examine a series of "case study" examples of coauthored texts across genres to understand how coauthoring and collaborative writing function in various contexts. We will also read a bit about the subject of written collaboration -- learning about its history and the challenges collaborators have faced. Finally, and most importantly, students will practice these skills, drawing on the tools and models studied throughout the semester, through the development and revision of their own coauthored and collaborative writing projects. A meta-question that will run across course will focus on resistance to collaboration: why is it so hard?
