Basically, this is an American Studies course which includes readings from Native American myths to 1800: prose narratives, poems, political and religious texts, early slave narratives, Captivity narratives, and others (in one anthology). All texts are taught in literary, historical, political, and religious contexts. Required: two 6-page papers, midterm, final.
