Teaching English (secondary). Prerequisites: Departmental approval; concurrent or completion intermediate field experience (CURR 410) and permission of the English teacher education coordinator.
This course prepares English education candidates to teach on the secondary and middle school grade levels. Candidates will gain specific day-to-day teaching methods in Language Arts based on the Common Core and NCTE Standards. Students will: demonstrate competency in creating engaging lessons and unit plans; articulate professional, research based justifications for varied teaching methods; gain professional perspectives on collaboration, group work, and action research.
This is a course in the professional sequence not credited as an English elective. (4 s.h.)
