Title: CREATIVE NONFICTION
Section: 02
Semester: Spring - 2016
Credits: 3
Description:
Creative Nonfiction is an evolving genre of writing, one that offers endless possibilities for storytelling and reporting. Emphasis in this course will be placed on personal style, structure choices, voice, the relevance of audience and taking risks on the page. Students will be responsible for reading and discussing the weekly reading as well as the work of their classmates. Writing will include personal narratives, travel and food essays and profile pieces. An idea that will drive much of the work comes from John McPhee, pioneer of this genre: “Creative nonfiction is not making something up but making the most of what you have.”
