Title: DIGITAL WRITING: COMPOSING WITH IMAGE WORD AND SOUND
Section: 01
Semester: Summer - 2016
Credits: 3
Description:
In this course, we will explore ways in which writing practices are changing in light of emerging digital technologies. Recognizing that the act of writing can no longer be confined to the production of printed words alone, this course will serve as an introduction to key rhetorical concepts that can guide both the reading and writing of digital multimodal texts. We will become familiar with the scholarship that grounds digital rhetoric and use that scholarship as a launching point for both analyzing and producing digital multimodal texts that blend alphabetic, visual, and aural components. In particular, we will look at websites, YouTube videos, and tweets as rhetorical texts that seek to effect civic action. No prior multimedia composing skills required.
