Title: LITERATURE OF IMMIGRATION
Section: 01
Semester: Fall - 2016
Credits: 3
Description:
This is a hybrid online course. We will meet in person on Tuesdays and asynchronously (this means that you do not need to be online at the specified class time) online on Thursdays.
In this course, we will address narratives of immigration to the U.S. in recent fiction, non-fiction writing, and film. We will consider how these texts imagine the American dream and classic “immigrant narrative” as well as how they challenge these mainstream ideas by focusing on issues such as empire and globalization.
