This course is a survey of British literature that covers the Restoration and the 18th century, the Romantics, the Victorians, the Modernists, and after. From Jonathan Swift to Emily Brontë to Philip Larkin, you’ll read lines you’ll want to quote. This course is also useful for English Education majors taking the Praxis exam. It fulfills the genre requirement for poetry, the requirements for women writers and gender studies, and period requirement for pre-1900 literature.
