Title: INTERMEDIATE FICTION WORKSHOP
Section: 01
Semester: Fall - 2017
Credits: 3
Description:
This workshop takes off from the beginning fiction level, though still devoted mainly to writing short stories. It provides a deeper look at basics like plot and character through what-if premises, vignettes, fables, setting, genre, rants, and other techniques that work well in a small space. Students are expected to write at least three short pieces and two stories during the semester and also engage in some revision. A take-home final exam will ask the students for written criticism of each other's material. The readings will be mainly student work and stories from a flash fiction handbook.
