Title: MODERN POETRY TO T. S. ELIOT
Section: 01
Semester: Fall - 2017
Credits: 3
Description:
In Modern Poetry to T. S. Eliot, we still study the poems of W. B. Yeats, T.S. Eliot, W. H. Auden, Stevie Smith, Sylvia Townsend Warner, and Philip Larkin. Class meetings will involve discussion and close readings of poems. We will spend two weeks on one of the greatest poems of the twentieth century, T. S. Eliot's THE WASTE LAND, devoting some time also to looking at the early drafts that Eliot later revised. In addition, we will listen to recordings of the poets reading their poems. This is a course for lovers of poetry.
