Course details
Name: ENGL - 234
Title: AMERICAN DRAMA
Section: 01
Semester: Spring - 2018
Credits: 3
Description:
American Drama begins as soon as "America" does and, like all drama, reflects the concerns and anxieties of the population for whom it is written: settlers, immigrants, laborers, and others. While taking up the "usual suspects" (O'Neill, Miller, Albee), we will also engage with plays from the settler/ Revolutionary period, from Depression-era (the Federal Theater Project) to Sixties and Seventies experiments, to Kushner and August Wilson, and more. Drama is the liveliest of the lively arts; it tells our own diverse stories. Course requirements: two short papers, a midterm and a final exam.
