Description:
Geoffrey Chaucer is by tradition one of the three "great" authors of British Literature. We will concentrate on the Theme of Love in his works. Other themes we'll encounter and discuss: Chivalry, Good and Evil; Religious belief; the Intersection of Art and Literature. We'll read some shorter poems and selected "Canterbury Tales." We'll look at Medieval literary criticism and the intellectual history of the ideas that predominate in Chaucer's works.
