Name: ENWR - 213
Title: INTRO TO FICTION WRITING
Section: 01
Semester: Fall - 2019
Credits: 3
Description:
This class will be taught by Professor Rachel Carter.
This course is designed to introduce students to the craft of fiction writing. We will look at contemporary and classic literature, as well as explore techniques, styles, and writing exercises designed to expand and develop our writing. From flash fiction to popular genre fiction, students will study the craft elements of fiction, including structure, character development, world-building and more. Students will be expected to write creatively both in and out of the classroom, producing portfolios of original work that will include two short stories and one flash fiction piece. Because writing doesn’t exist in a vacuum, we will be sharing work in a workshop setting, with students providing constructive criticism through peer reviews and active discussion.
