Title: INTERMEDIATE POETRY WORKSHOP

Section: 01

Semester: Fall - 2019

Credits: 3

Description:
The Intermediate Poetry Workshop course will develop the skills you learned in Introduction to Poetry Writing. You have already begun building your poetry writing toolbox, filling it with metaphor, simile, music, image, the line, and so on. In Intermediate, you will strengthen and refine these tools, using them to write poems that sing and ring; brim with images both lucid and original; open and close in ways that surprise, delight, and move readers. Adrienne Rich said that poetry is “[t]he drive to connect. The dream of a common language.” In Intermediate, you will learn how to marry intellect with emotion, so that your poems will connect you more deeply to yourself and to the world around you.
