Title: TEACHING WRITING IN THE PUBLIC SCHOOLS
Section: 01
Semester: Fall - 2019
Credits: 3
Description:
This course will teach future high school teachers how to teach students to improve their writing. This course will also demonstrate how to evaluate student writing. The course will cover the teaching of the first-person narrative, creative non-fiction, poetry, op/ed essays, the formal essay, and the research paper, and each genre will be supported with models teachers can use in their own classes. Future teachers will leave this class with seven concrete, powerful ways of evaluating student writing, and with a full-year writing curriculum that can be implemented on the first day of school.
