Name: ENGL - 308
Title: GENDER AND SEXUALITY IN ASIAN AMERICAN LITERATURE AND FILM
Section: 01
Semester: Spring - 2020
Credits: 3
Description:
This is a hybrid class, which means we meet face-to-face on Monday and will have an asynchronous online writing exercise during the week.
This course will approach contemporary Asian American culture through the analytic lenses of gender and sexuality. We will consider literature, film, and internet sources by and about Asian Americans. The intersections of race, gender, and sexuality will especially guide our investigation. We will think about topics such as youth culture and popular culture, the model minority narrative, refugee cultures, and intergenerational issues.
