Description:
This course will teach future high school teachers how to teach students to improve their writing. This course will also demonstrate how to evaluate student writing. The course may cover such essay forms as first-person narrative, creative non-fiction, poetry, op/ed essays, the formal essay, and the research paper. Each genre will be supported with models teachers can use in their own classes. Future teachers will leave this class with concrete, insightful ways of evaluating student writing and models of how to initiate peer reviewing techniques that actually work.
