Course details
Name: ENGL - 282
Title: LITERATURE AND ENVIRONMENT
Section: 02
Semester: Spring - 2022
Credits: 3
Description:
Our course will examine how literature represents the human relationship with the “more-than-human” natural environment. We will use an environmental lens to analyze literature from the U.S. and a range of global sites. Many of our narratives will deal with contemporary environmental issues, such as global warming, mass extinction, environmental justice, trees and deforestation, multi-species relationships, and capitalism and environment. The intersections of race, gender, sexuality, class, and nation will inform our approach.
Online, asynchronous Canvas assignments will supplement the Tues course meeting. You can expect to have discussion deadlines on two other days of the week. Tech requirements: a computer and webcam for the Zoom session.
