Description:
This course will examine the genre of the short story. We will look at different uses of the form, from detective stories to realism to science fiction and narrative experiments, and we will read a from a diverse list of authors potentially including Jhumpa Lahiri, Junot Diaz, Raymond Carver, Ursula Le Guin, Flannery O'Connor and many others. Our goal is to develop analytical and critical reading skills, as well as putting those skills to work in argumentative essays. This course meets the Gen Ed C2 Literature requirement.
