Description:
This synchronous, online, elective focuses on the short story, a versatile and exciting genre that is unique to various regions and eras. We’ll look at narrative technique in writers ranging from the classics (Edgar Allan Poe, Kate Chopin, Charlotte Perkins Gilman, Hamlin Garland, Sarah Orne Jewett, Willa Cather, N.K. Jemisin, Octavia Butler, Ursula LeGuin, Flannery O’Connor, Ray Bradbury, and ZZ Packer, among others. Students will complete weekly writings, daily reflective posts, and class discussions. This course satisfies the C2 Literature Gen Ed requirement.
