Course details
Name: ENWR - 212
Title: INTRODUCTION TO POETRY WRITING
Section: 01
Semester: Fall - 2023
Credits: 3
Description:
And did the twin flame bruise paint you blue? Just between us, did the love affair maim you, too? Write it out. Poetry, from Homer to Taylor to Megan thee Stallion, has been about using syllables and words as magic spells. OK, it's more complicated than that. But in this course, we will "play around with syllables" (as W. H. Auden had it) as we study the craft of writing poetry in a workshop environment. Through writing exercises and readings drawn from a variety of aesthetic traditions, students will learn basic principles of prosody and composition, fundamentals of form and construction.
