Name: ENGL - 506

Title: SEMINAR IN LITERARY RESEARCH

Section: 01

Semester: Fall - 2024

Credits: 3

Description:
This course offers a strong and focused foundation for scholarly literary research. Students will learn methods of creating paper and/or presentation proposals, conducting research, and drafting and revising thoughtful, carefully argued theses. Through extensive examination of current criticism, students will identify and critique scholarly debates, and will work toward constructing a full proposal for a literary panel/presentation or essay. Building upon these high-level skills, students will grow familiar with the process of constructing their own thesis proposals—the culminating project for the MA in English. It is strongly recommended (though not required) that students have taken the Literary Theory class, since the use of theory is an integral part of this course’s structure and intention.
