Through intensive close reading and discussion in English, Spanish and Spanglish, we will hone our understanding of the bilingual writer and how language has been used as a powerful tool to showcase and celebrate the Latinx community in the U.S.A. Students will be expected to write creatively in and out of the classroom using English and Spanish (or a combination of the two), producing a portfolio that includes two short stories and several flash fiction pieces in response to writing prompts inspired by our reading. All students will share work and provide constructive feedback through peer reviews and active discussion.Students must be fluent in Spanish before registering for this course.
